Merry Christmas! Decorating Fools!

Tis' the time of the year for yard decorations! Last night my family and I started the process of decorating the house. Out comes the tree and yard ornamentation s, but this year's a little different. There's no trees in our yard... and our house is too tall for my ladder, so I can't get up on the roof to put up the lights. :(

We decorated the tree the night before and it looks a lot smaller in our new house. The kids love helping put the ornaments on the tree. So everyone has something to do we have one unwrapping the ornaments, one putting the hooks on them, and one placing them on the tree, while mom and dad untangle the lights.

This is a video of us putting up our tree last year. This will let you know what our tree looks like. It took us about 4 hours to put the tree up piece by piece, we'll never do that again. This year didn't take us nearly as long. We have over 200 ornaments on our tree, each one has a meaning behind it.

My kids are getting so excited for Christmas and honestly so am I. When we get all of the decorations up I will post another picture or two. Merry Christmas to all and Happy Holidays!

Boys Nigh Out!

Occasionally I like to go out with my kids individually and find out what's on their minds. I let them choose what they want to do on their night out on the town with dad. This week was Matthew my eight year old boy's turn and he chose to go see "Wreck it Ralph" at the Theater in North Ogden.

He loves being silly with his dad and this movie was the prefect medium to release the "Sillies". We enjoyed the movie and made several comments during the movie, but the real fun came after the movie. We went to Iggy's in Ogden and ordered "What Ever the Heck We Wanted"! We had Hamburgers and we had steaks and yes we did have cheesecake! I tried my best to embarrass him at the restaurant, but he turn the table on his old dad. He stood up and  announced that he was, "Wreck it Ralph" and began to act out part of the movie. Quickly, I told him that he had won this round.

After dinner we went outside and enjoyed the crisp night air and the music being play by a performer at a cafe next to Iggy's. There wasn't anyone else around, it was just my boy and me. It was a little too cold so we warmed ourselves by the fire-pit. Matthew began posing by the fire and thought this would be a great picture opportunity, so I took a few. Then some people came and Matthew got embarrassed and stopped posing for the camera.

I love doing things with my kids.  They are the joy in my life and my motivation.  So when my kids want to do something I try with all my heart to do it for them.  This time and they wanted to do a music video.
My kids saw a video on Weber state’s face book page.  It was a video of the girls of Weber state news doing a mock video of LMFAO’s, “Party rock anthem”.  They love it so much they wanted to do one of their own.  So for the next few weeks each day we would practice choreographing our video.  They worked so hard and did so much better than I thought they would.  This video turned out great!  I had to do an interview with this video so I interviewed my children.  They did a wonderful job in answering the questions!
After is all said and done; they told me it was a lot harder than I thought it would be.  There are so proud of what they accomplished in this video.  We never thought that they can do this at their age.  So sit back and enjoy their efforts, here is their mock video of LMFAO song, “Partying Rock Anthem” (short version).

Amanda first basketball game with new team.

Saturday anxiety was high for this was the first time the girls had met. This was Amanda’s first game with their new team.  She was really nervous about playing with a new team.  The last team she was on the girls were older than her and she was very intimidated by the older girls.  The girls were nice to her and knew that she was younger.
She didn't know what to expect with the new team.  She is worried that she would not fit in and that the girls would not like her.  She had never practice with the girls so they did not know how good she was but they soon found out.  Within 3 minutes she had already scored the first basket and had stolen a ball from the other team.  She was up and down the court weaving in and out of players.  She wanted so badly to impress her new teammates.  In that she did.
At the end or old coach and teammates showed up for their game in her old coach noticed how well she was playing.  He approached her and congratulated on how well she played.  He noticed how she was doing the things that they went over in their practice and told her, “I wish you were still on our team!” This made her feel very happy.

Livastride Foundation

The leaves in the mountain trees are changing colors. There's a crispness to the air, winter is near.

Lives are changing for the good here at Snow Basin, thanks to a foundation who brings new light to those battle depression. Livastrida foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those suffering from depression by letting them know a friendly ear is near.

Brody Johnson

Billy Petersen, the founder of Livastride, started the foundation to honor his late brother, Brody Johnson. Billy's brother Brody committed suicide two years ago and Billy's family saw first hand the effects of depression and how it not only effects the individual, but also their families.

The concept behind Livastride is simple. Keeping someone active with friends and family helps them focus on other things other than their depress.

The Livastride Foundation is a non-profit organize that promotes running, basketball, and other actives. Today's event has a five, ten, and 25 K race, along with great music and awards being handed out.
